As a water lover, one of my favorite activities to do no matter where I am is to be on a boat. Whether on a sailboat, semi-rigid, yacht, or ferry, I love seeing a new place from a different perspective—its shore.

Whether at a café table, a dinner table, an airport lounge, a train car, or on a beach, it can feel self-conscious to not have another person to interrupt the silence with. Given that we all walk around with mini computers in our pockets, the obvious urge is to pull out the trusty cell phone and scroll. Or, you could grab a magazine.

When traveling, I often make my first night in a new place snack night. A quick trip to the market yields plates of snacks with zero cooking required.
